I took a Monday off — on purpose.

Then I asked my team four honest questions about that day. They scored us a 7.0 out of 10 on running without me. This little report has the score, the framework, and the four questions you can copy to test your own team.

The Backstory

How this whole thing started.

Look — I'm the kind of founder things route through. Approvals. Decisions. Client calls. The thousand small judgments a day that feel like leadership but might just be... me getting in the way.

So a few weeks ago I posted something on LinkedIn that scared me a little:

"

Took a Monday off purposely to see if my team can work an entire day without me. When they can survive 45 days, this is auto pilot.

— Maran's LinkedIn post · the one that started it

I promised my followers I'd report back. So I sent my team four questions. They wrote back honestly. I read every word, ran the answers through a few leadership frameworks I trust, and — because I love a good takeaway — distilled the whole thing into a 3-page PDF.

What I found surprised me. Mostly in good ways. A little in humbling ones. All of it now in your inbox if you want it.

What's Inside The PDF

Three pages. Genuinely useful.

Made it short on purpose. Less noise, more signal — the way I'd want to read it myself.

PAGE 01

The Four Questions

The exact questions I sent to my team. Copy them, send to yours, and brace yourself for honest answers. They're disarmingly simple — that's what makes them work.

PAGE 02

A Scoring Method

Three established lenses (Bus Factor, Marquet's authority levels, Blanchard's stages) applied in plain English. Six teammates, six archetypes you'll recognize in your own team.

PAGE 03

The Confidence Compound

Four leadership principles that explain how the 7.0 actually got built. Each one comes with a "How to install" line — concrete moves any leader can try this week.

Why You Can Trust This

The framework wasn't written for the report.

Months before I ran this experiment, one of my teammates posted publicly about working at Thedico. She had no idea I'd ever write this PDF.

Her words describe the exact practices that produced our score — the kind of evidence you can't fake. The whole framework in the report is built directly from what she wrote.

From a Thedico teammate's public post · written before the experiment

"He creates a space where you're allowed to try, allowed to make mistakes, and most importantly, encouraged to step out of your comfort zone."

"He believes in us — sometimes more than we believe in ourselves. And that belief pushes us to do things we never thought we could."
